An expository essay written on the topic of religious...

Teens today are bombarded with multiple types of external and internal conflicts. AIDS and other STDs impact the way they live externally; depression and suicide can govern their internal lives. However, religious tolerance grabs at both their internal and external lives. The biased media always attempts to push teens beliefs one way or another, yet it is the choice of the individual to which counts in the end. ApologeticsIndex.org defines religious tolerance as Acknowledging and supporting that individuals have the right and freedom to their own beliefs and related legitimate practices, without necessarily validating those beliefs or practices. It also defines religious intolerance as a) Refusing to acknowledge and support the right†¦show more content†¦The first is where there is an extreme reluctance to change (e.g. Islam in the Middle East). The other comes in a form where change has happened all too rapidly. For example, secular countries like America and others in Euro pe have gone from origins in religion, to actually putting down religion (mainly through the media; Bernard Goldberg, Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News). Saying that religious intolerance is a problem is a massive understatement and the numbers certainly do not lie. In a study by the University of North Carolina, a poll was taken of seniors in high school about organized religion. An astonishing one third of seniors felt alienated by organized religion. Of these numbers, half the students felt hostile towards organized religion and another half felt no emotions towards it. One third is not a majority, but a whole third of the adult population is an alarming number. In this trend, it is to be expected that nearly 50% of youth will feel threatened by organized religion in little more than a decade (The Empty Church : Does Organized Religion Matter Anymore by Thomas C. Reeves). In a Youth Gallup Poll (ages 13-17), 40% of youth who are identified as non-churchgoers agree that most Muslims around the world are accepting of other religions. This number compares to only 27% of churchgoers who believe Muslims are religiously tolerant. This is a stark contrast. Individuality Vs. The Perfect World Essay Example For Students

Individuality Vs. The Perfect World Essay Imagine the world as only beautiful people. Everywhere you look is a Cindy Crawford look-a-like: 59, brown hair, brown eyes, and the perfect smile. A Master Race. Do we really want to reenact Adolf Hitlers plan of seeking world domination killing million upon millions as a final solution? Instead of killing, wed be reproducing millions, going against nature. Say we went and got one of Princess Dianas cells and implanted that in an egg that was then placed into a surrogate mother. Nine months later, we would have a baby Princess Diana. Only trouble is, this baby would only resemble Princess Diana in looks, not personality, character, or individuality. Her whole life wouldnt be what it had been; she wouldnt be her. What if your newborn son died? Just think; you could have a second chance. Is this morally or ethnically right? Cloning of humans should be forbidden, but cloning of human body parts for medicinal purposes should be allowed. Cloning hasnt been a big issue or ever thought to have actually been made to work until 1997 with the successful birth of a lamb named Dolly. Out of 277 eggs implanted in different sheep mothers, Dolly was the only lamb successfully born. The method used to clone Dolly was scientists at the Roslin Institute in Scotland took a cell out of the mammary gland. They then used an electrical pulse to coax an adult cell into merging with a host egg whose nucleus had been removed (Hoon). This method being very unsuccessful brought on a new one where scientists used mice, injecting just the adult nucleus into a nucleus free host instead of using an electrical pulse. They also had let it set for two hours before stimulating it to start dividing. The success rate was 2-3 in 100. Now knowing that we could clone sheep and mice, scientists were up to the possibility and challenge of cloning humans. As soon as it became public knowledge that cloning was really happening and becoming more successful, President Clinton imposed a ban on federal funding for human-cloning research. Several states have established restrictions, some even banning cloning completely (Masci 420). Cloning is not morally or ethnically right. Morally, scientists would be taking the role of God. If a clone dies, where would they go? In religious beliefs, clones would have no souls because God didnt create them. Cloning would alter the definition of ourselves. To clone a dead person with their DNA would only make another person that would look exactly the same minus their personality, character, talents, memories, scars, and life. Can you imagine raising a cloned child? As he/she grew up it wouldnt be the same. They would be thought of as a special child, that is if they were even born correctly. The odds of even having a human clone born with out defects are very, very slim. The child would go through grade school probably all right until it come time for family life. He/she comes home and it is now your time to explain the birds and bees speech. Are you going to explain that he/she is different than all other kids and is a big scientific study or are you going to lie? Either way , youre going to have to live with the consequences. Dolly was cloned from a sheep cell that was about six years old, a middle age for an ewe. So this means that when Dolly was born she was technically six years old. This would mean that she would only be expected to live for five years, which would in truth be shorter than the normal lifespan of eleven years. If this was true, and humans were cloned, their lifespan would be shorter also. This was proved wrong, but if Dolly was born being six years old, shed be about ten years old right now, and old age. Does this mean that she is only going to live two more years or nine more? Life isnt a toy; its a very serious thing. You were brought on to this planet for a reason and cloning doesnt seem to be a good enough one. .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c , .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c .postImageUrl , .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c , .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c:hover , .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c:visited , .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c:active { border:0!important; } .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c:active , .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ufd507d1e8549293a7534272f2440698c:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Manatees EssayCloning would deplete genetic diversity. THOMAS JEFFERSON Argumentative Essay Example For Students

THOMAS JEFFERSON Argumentative Essay President Thomas Jefferson 1801 1809Thomas Jefferson came into presidency with the intentions of limiting the size and power of the central government. His success and failures in accomplishing this goal were many. Thomas Jefferson was Americas third president in reign from 1801 1809, once tying in the presidential race with Aaron Burr, where the decision was made by the House of Representatives to choose Jefferson whom they thought was less dangerous than Burr. As president he was the first to be inaugurated in Washington which was a city he had helped to plan. President Jeffersons inauguration was probably the start of the changes in government. It has been said that his particular taking of office had lead to the simplest speech stating that essential principals would guide his administration and would support all states with equal and exact justice to all. And by the year 1808, Republicans held almost all the government offices. At the same time Jefferson fought to keep the size of the government from continuously growing. President Jefferson work diligently with congress to change the Alien Acts to have a more relaxed naturalization for only requiring five years of residency achieve United States citizenship, instead of the previous fourteen years. While president Jefferson achieved credit for making the Federal governments priorities foreign affairs, and leaving local matters for the state and local governments to tend with. Jeffersons beliefs in local self government created differences between himself and Alexander Hamilton which created the Federalists (Hamilton followers) and the Democrat Republicans (Jefferson followers). President Jefferson was instrumental in the Louisiana Purchase, which secured an area extending from Canada to the Gulf and the Mississippi to the Rockies, for fifteen million dollars. This purchase also led to the planning and organization of the Lewis and Clark expedition. However, the argument over whether or not Florida was included in the Louisiana Purchase caused many sarcastic attacks on Thomas Jefferson from members of congress. Although, shortly before leaving office President Jefferson was forced to yield on certain acts that he had implemented, such as the Non-importation Act of 1806 and the Embargo Act of 1807. This was brought on by rebellious attitudes of the people during the attacks on neutral shipping of the U.S. by Britain and France. However, President Jefferson was able to lift many restrictions on American commerce, and at the same time improve relations between America and France. Also, President Jefferson was the author of the statue for religious freedom, which separated the church from the state, and advocated the abolishment of slavery. President Jeffersons Vision Plan was constantly under scrutiny due to the progressiveness of industrial wealth, which caused for more and more and to be available. This need for land was a merely a notion to provide social equality and prevent over crowding in the cities. This would enable citizens to spread out and possible keep peace. The number of accomplishments by President Jefferson are so numerous, he was very instrumental in directing the Nation for the future. Most importantly he authored the Declaration of Independence. Through writing this document Thomas Jefferson was able to provide documentation of announcing that all states were now free, and independent states having full power and control, to wage or enact in war, peace, and any other acts which independent states have the right to. .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d , .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d .postImageUrl , .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d , .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d:hover , .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d:visited , .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d:active { border:0!important; } .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d:active , .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .udf5df4e25d22576c504fd13efd3f384d:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: The Diary of Anne Frank EssayConsequently, President Jefferson also achieved the improvement of agriculture methods so Americans could grow and trade their agricultural products. Attitude Toward Writing Essay Example

Attitude Toward Writing Essay Example Attitude Toward Writing Essay Attitude Toward Writing Essay Attitude Toward Writing BY ne1416 According to Lou Holtz Ability is what youre capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it. I dread writing, whether it is academic or not. Whenever I pick up a pen to starts writing something, I get queasy. For example, the worst punishment someone can ever give me is a writing assignment. It has been like that ever since I learned how to write. The three main reasons I hate writing is because it has been a challenge for me, I lack confidence in y own potential, and I find it very hard to express my thoughts on paper. The first reason why I dislike writing is because it has always been a challenge for me. I remember back in ninth grade, my English teacher assigned us an essay about smoking. That day, I went home, sat on my bed, chewed on my pen cap, and started writing. I finished in one day, an essay that I had a week to complete. When the due date came, I was very nervous because I though my teacher was not going to like the essay, and I was right. She said that my essay made her want to start smoking, and that I will never make it out in the real world with writing skills like that. She crushed me. Unlike most people, I did not cry but from that day forward, I truly believed that I am a horrible writer. The second reason why I dislike wring is because I have a lack of confidence in my own potential. Although I have great knowledge of what I am supposed to talk about, but there is this voice in the back of my mind that making me doubt myself. For example, the voice is telling me to gives up. I second guess myself after every word. I gets afraid of making grammar mistakes and I lose all hope in writing a successful paper. Finally, the third reason why I am not a fan of writing is that I find it difficult to express my thoughts on paper. For example, writing takes a lot of thinking process. As a result it gets very hard for me to get my point across. I would start writing and before I know it my mind is traveling to a new place where the topic in focus is everything but the assigned topic. Furthermore, I get frustrated asily when I cannot get back to my original ideas and finish what I had started. Nonetheless, I am still not a fan of writing and it is because it has always been a challenge for me. I have a lack of confidence in my own potential, and I find it difficult to express my thoughts on paper. I come to understand that having a positive attitude is key to be successful in life. I also understand how important it is to be able to write effectively in the medical field. By have a great English teacher as Mrs. Martin, so I think that I can overcome these problem.

Centre And Then Compare Their Efficiency Essay -- Variable cost, Costs,

ï‚ § Market based transfer pricing – In this case Country A charges Country B according to the market price. Therefore, the manager’s performance is comparable as both have opportunity to make profit. ï‚ § Negotiated Transfer Pricing – Here the prices are negotiated, keeping profit margin for each of them. In this case they are also comparable. ï‚ § Full cost transfer pricing – In this case, the suppliers do not keep profit for their division, instead full cost is transferred to another department and the final profit is made by the last department. Thus, the profit centres are not comparable to each other. ï‚ § International transfer pricing – Since we know they trade among each other across borders also, they also need to be aware of taxation rates, currency rates, transportation costs and local suppliers in different countries in order to set prices. Here, each portfolio cannot be compared based on profit margins. c) Improves efficiency and speed of decision making: As the profit centre managers have authority to decide on their suppliers, customers, selling prices, etc, they have the opportunity to perform tasks at a faster pace and increased efficiency. d) No risk of reduced profitability: Revenue centre managers are only responsible for generating sales, and they do it at the cost of reduced profitability, but profit centre managers generate revenue making sure profits are earned. 6.2 Now let us discuss the Drawbacks of the profit centre managers: a) Unable to make capital investments: Profit centre managers are not authorized to make investment decisions; resulting in loosing opportunity to make profitable investment in specif... ... middle of paper ... ... 20 Unit variable cost of buying 7 15 20 24 (4) 1 3 4 Annual requirements (units) 3000 4000 5000 6000 So, Extra Variable Cost of Buying (12000) 4000 15000 24000 Fixed Cost of Buying 1000 2000 3000 4000 Extra total cost of buying (13000) 2000 12000 20000 Assuming that fixed cost will remain constant whether or not the company buys or makes the products, the relevant cost of manufacture will be considered the variable cost. Multistate Regulation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Multistate Regulation - Essay Example g practice is expanded on a daily basis through technology, and the new modalities in place that encourage the practice by nurses, wherever they are, or might go (Hann, 2007). This paper will examine the pros and cons of multistate regulation on the health care fraternity, and what it means to have rules in place to regulate the profession over state lines. Once one is a licensed medical practitioner, it is their right to practice their profession in any state they want to practice. This is one advantage brought on by the multistate regulation. If a medical practitioner is willing to conduct their business electronically, or physically, it is their right to do so, provided the licensing board in their state has approved of their practice (Hann, 2007). Also, if their practice is in agreement with the procedures and guidelines of the state in which they want to practice. Under mutual recognition, the multistate regulation ensures that medical practitioners may practice their profession across state lines (Hann, 2007). This is if there are no restrictions. Another advantage of the multistate regulation is the creation of diverse experiences. The nursing profession essentially benefits from the enhancement of opportunities created through regulation. It is imperative that medical practitioners get the exposure from different areas so as to bring diversification to the table. This is possible through multistate regulation policies. Health insurance companies are incurring tremendous losses as they tend to obey the different guidelines in the respective state (Milstead, 2013). This is a different scenario present, because, if these insurance companies would comply with a single regulatory body, it would be easier to conduct business. They would incur fewer costs by getting compliance from a single body, than multiple regulatory standards, which each state requires. The costs incurred drive up a company’s expenses, which are unnecessary. If the insurance companies
